A man who took a plea deal in a murder case learned his sentence.

KOB Eyewitness News 4 was in the courtroom Friday when Matthew Benavidez was sentenced to 20 years in prison with five years of probation.

Benavidez pleaded guilty to murdering Paul Barker in 2010.

It all stemmed from a drug deal gone wrong.

Police found Barker, 51, shot to death outside a trailer near Juan Tabo Boulevard and Central Avenue in Northeast Albuquerque.

Benavidez was 17 when police arrested him and two others during a standoff near Menual and Chelwood park.
