Gov. Susana Martinez has signed an Executive Order to send New Mexico resources to the Northeast and relief and recovery efforts continue following Superstorm Sandy.

The order makes available $200,000 to the state Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

The department will send personnel to the Northeast to help track and distribute in-coming donations.

Additional state resources and personnel are on standby, according to a statement from the governor's office.

The efforts are part of a state-to-state assistance agreement.

Superstorm Sandy struck the northeast late last month and has claimed the lives of dozens of people.

The damage is expected to exceed $50 billion.

The cost of sending personnel and equipment eventually will be reimbursed by the Presidential Disaster Declaration for the Storm, according to the governor's statement, however, the Executive Order allows for state resources to move immediately upon request.
