Gov. appoints attorney to district court vacancy

Gov. Susana Martinez appointed Sylvia LaMar Friday to an open seat on the First Judicial District bench.

LaMar will be filling the vacancy left by recently retired Judge Michael Vigil.

LaMar has more than 20 years of experience in family law and owns and operates a private practice where she specializes in domestic relations and personal injury law, according to a press release from the governor's office.

LaMar graduated from Alfred University and received her law degree from American University, according to the governor's office.
