A Carlsbad man could see jail time after falling from a third floor hotel window.

Carlsbad Police Officers were called out to a hotel on south canal street around 6:00 p.m. Friday for a man swinging a fire extinguisher around in the lobby.

When officers arrived the 39-year-old ran up to the third floor, smashed a window with the fire extinguisher and threatened to jump.

Hotel workers piled mattresses under the window. That broke his fall.

The man was transported to the Carlsbad Medical Center where he is undergoing treatment.

Police are looking into filing charges against the man who is alleged to have committed a crime before the incident at the hotel. The investigation involving the allegations is ongoing.
