Carlsbad group stuffs backpacks full of food for hungry kids

Imagine going to school on Monday, after a long weekend without enough food.
That's what's happening to children all across the country.
That's why one group in Carlsbad is hoping to make difference in their hometown.
The Zeta Nu chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha created Packs for Hunger less than a year ago.
They stuff backpacks full of non-perishable food so that kids in need can fill their bellies over the weekend with things like oatmeal, mac & cheese, applesauce and potted meat.
"Our program is, that we do this every week," said Carol Worley of Zeta Nu. "We have someone pick up, someone deliver. Some will buy groceries. We have food drop offs all over Carlsbad and that's how we survive by our donations from our wonderful community. Without them, we cannot do it."
Zeta Nu relies on community and business donations to stuff the packs, which cost just 12 dollars each.
So far they've filled more than 350 backpacks and serve six elementary schools. Though Worley says they'd like to serve more.
