The New Mexico Lobos overcame a 16-point deficit to beat the Davidson Wildcats 86-81 in a nationally televised game Tuesday morning at University Arena in Albuquerque.

Tony Snell played big in the midnight matchup for New Mexico.

Snell had a huge block to cement the Lobos' victory.
With Davidson down 82-78 with 35 seconds to play Chris Czerapowicz stepped back at the top of the key for a desperate three point shot.
Snell was right in his face before Czerapowicz could toss the ball. Snell grabbed the steal, tossed it to a streaking Kendall Williams who finished the play with a dunk that gave the 14,277 fans in attendance a 2 a.m. jolt.
Fans at the Pit didn’t have much to cheer for early in the game.
New Mexico shot 34 percent and hit just one three point shot in the first half. Davidson led 45-31 going into the second half.
Davidson had five players score in double digits. De’Mon Brooks scored 22 points to pace the Wildcats.

Midnight. National television. The Pit.
Could the New Mexico Lobos men’s basketball team have a better season opener?
The Lobos host the Davidson Wildcats in the second game of the 2012 ESPN Tip-Off Marathon, a 24-hour college basketball frenzy that fits perfect with the reputation of University Arena.
Both teams lost to Louisville - Davidson in the first round, New Mexico in the second - in the NCAA Tournament last season.
New Mexico plays a four guard lineup led by junior Kendall Williams and Tony Snell.
Davidson defeated Emory in its season opener 93-67.
The Wildcats are led by the defending Southern Conference player of the year De’Mon Brooks. The junior forward is on pace to score a career 1,000 points and grab 500 rebounds.
