An Albuquerque father accused in his daughter's death pleaded not guilty Tuesday.

Anthony Chavez and his daughter's stepmother, Gayla Hernandez, both face child abuse charges.

Deputies found four-year-old Rebecca Sanchez not breathing in their home near Second and Rio Bravo back in October.

They say the girl had cuts, scratches and bruises all over her body. She later dies at the hospital.

Deputies said she had a head injury that could not have been an accident.

Chavez's bond remains at $500,000 cash. Hernandez is set to appear in court on Friday.
