The U.S. Court of Appeals has upheld the conviction of a former Albuquerque police officer.

Brad Ahrensfield was convicted of tipping off a friend about a federal drug investigation while working for the Albuquerque Police Department in 2009.

Wednesday, the court also upheld Ahrensfield's six-month prison sentence.

Ahrensfield has not served that time yet. He has been free on conditions of release while awaiting the ruling on his appeal.
