LAS VEGAS, N.M. (AP) - The office manager of a Las Vegas nonprofit has been charged with multiple felonies for allegedly embezzling about $2,300 from the organization during a three week-period.

The Las Vegas Optic reports 44-year-old Amanda Chavez worked part time for the Citizens Committee for Historic Preservation for more than a year before her arrest last week.

She was fired after her arrest on forgery embezzlement and theft charges. Chavez was arrested and booked into the San Miguel County Detention Center last week.

It isn't clear if she has a lawyer and she has since bonded out of jail. Police reports filed in court say Chavez allegedly four checks between Aug. 31 and Sept. 21.
