An Albuquerque woman accused of killing her husband won't spend time in jail before her trial.

A District Court judge ordered Amy Herrera Friday to wear an ankle monitoring bracelet.

Herrera is accused of shooting and killing Air Force Major Marc Herrera at their Albuquerque home in July.

The incident occurred at a party for foreign exchange students.

KOB Eyewitness News 4 spoke with Marc Herrera's mother after the hearing.

"It isn't exactly what we wanted," Marian Herrera said. "We would have felt much better for ourselves as well as the citizens of Albuquerque if she would have been remanded into custody, but this is the next best thing we could have hoped for."

Police said Amy Herrera told officers her husband shot himself, but investigators later said she admitted to friends that she had shot him.
