The New Mexico State University Board of Regents hope to name a new president by the end of the spring semester.

Until then the university is holding a series of listening sessions to hear from the public.

The first was Thursday night. An El Paso television station reports about 50 people showed up. They discussed several topics including transparency and improving campus diversity.

Former president Barbara Couture resigned in September. She's getting a pay out of more than $450,000.
