Nearly a thousand volunteers came Sunday to help Roadrunner Food Bank sort all their donations.

KOB Eyewitness News 4 partnered up with the Roadrunner Food Bank for our annual Holiday Food Drive.

Roadrunner said it's received 170,000-pounds of canned goods and more is still coming in - and that just the donations dropped off at the post office.

One volunteer told us it really helps to have so many people helping to get the food donations to needy families.

"It's very reassuring to know our community in Albuquerque and all over New Mexico you know takes pride in helping," one volunteer said.

Roadrunner said they had a grand total of 750,000 food donations last year and are on track to hit figure again this year.
