Vacant Wal-Mart Building Becomes Public Library

undefinedA building that once housed a Wal-Mart in McAllen, Texas was renvoated into the city's public library. PSFK reported on the inspirational adaptive re-use, and you can click over there to see photos. The architectural firm Meyer, Scherer & Rockcastle, Ltd., who most often are working with consumers and remodeling contractors in Minneapolis, their home base, employed their expertise in designing buildings intended for public and educational use.The McAllen library is the size of about two and a half football fields. Usership has increased steeply since the renovation.
