Foster and adoptive families celebrate Thanksgiving

An Albuquerque restaurant known for good food and spectacular views threw a special Thanksgiving feast Thursday for some New Mexico families who have done a very special thing.
Sandiago's, right next door to the Tram in the Sandia foothills, served dinner for adoptive families and foster families.
It's the 4th year for the dinner, with workers from the state Children, Youth and Families Department helping to organize the event. 13 year old Veronica Trujillo has been one of the guests in past years, but this time the 13 year old was working - bussing tables for the others on a busy Thanksgiving afternoon.
Veronica is a 7th grader at Ernie Pyle Middle School. She is adopted and she's proud of it and proud of her family - and the feeling is mutual.
"It's been a wonderful thing," said her mother, Rebecca Trujillo. " I've been blessed. We love her and she brings joy to us every single day."
She said she wants to encourage couples considering adoption, and her daughter agrees.
"Children are like probably the best thing that can happen to anyone," said Veronica. "It's much better if you adopt them. It's the same pretty much as birth children and you can learn to love them anyway."
Sandiago's employees volunteered to cook and serve and clean up for the family feast. US Foods donated most of the food they prepared.
