The Salvation Army kicked off its annual Christmas kettle campaign Thursday night and Friday Roswell’s division celebrated with a carol concert by the Roswell community band.

This year, they're not just asking for donations, but for local musicians to play near the kettles to spread holiday cheer.

"They're all volunteers, and I'm really thankful that they're going to be joining us throughout the Christmas Time,” the Salvation Army's Cpt. Beau Perez said. “I've invited musicians and singers to wherever we have a red kettle to come out"

Perez says 90 percent of the cash donated in Roswell's Kettle Campaign will be used locally. It will help the needy within Chaves County.
