Albuquerque firefighters were quick to put out a car fire that threatened an Albuquerque apartment complex.

It broke out at the Pearl Apartments near San Pedro and Gibson around 5 a.m. Monday.

Fire officials tell us the building was evacuated for a short time.

We talked with Dillon Trujillo, who lives at the apartments. He said he heard a loud explosion.

"I was outside and heard a big crash like a big bang and kind of freaked out and dove back into my house."

Trujillo said he saw three men hop the fence after the fire broke out.

Firefighters were able to put it out before the fire spread to the complex.

An investigation is now underway to see how the fire started - stay with KOB for updates.
