Heading into Wednesday night's game against the Mercer Bears the Lobos are number 5 in the R.P.I. , that according to NCAA.com. Winning is always a big deal, but the real improvement is that the Lobos are 12th in the SOS (strength of schedule). The odds are good that the Lobos will remain high in the R.P.I. considering that they still have to play Cincinnati, Saint Louis and in conference SDSU, UNLV and Colorado State Twice. There is a bunch of basketball yet to play but getting a head start in the R.P.I. never hurts.
