Freight train derails near Rincon; no one hurt

A train headed from Belen to El Paso derailed near Rincon on Tuesday night at around 9 p.m. It happened north of Las Cruces near Rincon.

The 85-car mixed-freight train was heading from Belen to El Paso when 14 cars derailed.

There were no injuries and no spills of hazardous material.

The cars were put back on the track by Hulcher Heavy Equipment Company of Belen and the rail line has been reopened.

The cause of the derailment has not been determined.
