No one in New Mexico hit the $580,000,000 Powerball jackpot Wednesday night, but lottery officials say there were two winning tickets sold for $1,000,000 and $2,000,000.
Tickets for Wednesday's drawing went at a furious pace. New Mexico Lottery officials said since last Sunday, people in the state bought nearly five million dollars worth of Powerball tickets.
Yesterday evening, tickets were being sold across the state at a rate of more than 7000 tickets per minute.
If no one around the country hits the big jackpot, Saturday's prize would jump to close to a billion dollars.
