Carlsbad police investigate shooting death of woman, 40

Carlsbad police have identified a woman found dead from a gunshot wound early Thursday at a home in the city.
Carlsbad police responded to a call in the 600 block of North 4th Street in reference to a woman reported to be unconscious and not breathing.
When emergency personnel arrived they found Margarita Hernandez, 40, of Carlsbad, dead from a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Carlsbad detectives continue to investigate.
