Families of combat heroes get holiday trips from Snowball Express

Families of soldiers who died in combat since 9/11 got a much needed vacation for the weekend from the Snowball Express.
American Airlines, along with several other corporate sponsorships, helped five families from New Mexico, along with families from all over the country have an expenses paid weekend trip to Dallas.
Mayor Richard Berry sent off the families Friday morning at the Sunport.
The first Snowball Express happened in 2006, giving families the chance to enjoy a weekend with Dallas to go to Six Flags and do other fun things in the city.
Out of the five families, there were 13 children with those families who all lost their fathers.
Parents said this weekend has been a godsend to them.
"Do this more for the children than anything, especially around Christmas time, it's great for them to escape and have this for fun and enjoy time," Dianna Ramos said.
Her husband, Lance Corporal Christopher Ramos, died in combat in 2004.
She and her two kids have gone on the Snowball Express four years now.
Ramos said the great thing about the event is it unites families locally and nationally with other families who have gone through similar circumstances.
