Twinkle Light Parade float to honor a special woman

This year the Twinkle Light Parade will feature a float that honors the last memories of a South Valley woman who died of cancer three months ago.
Norma and David Vargas built floats to enter into the parade for the last ten years and their entries won many awards.
In early 2012, doctors discovered a cancerous tumor behind Norma’s eye. The disease caused excruciating pain for Norma and during that time, Norma told her family she would go to her “happy place” to relieve the tension in her head.
No matter where she was, Norma’s “happy place” always led her mind to take her to moments inside her living room with her husband, children, and grandchildren by her side.
This year, her family is building a float titled “Norma’s Happy Place.”
It is built like a living room during Christmas and Norma’s family will be on the float singing Christmas carols and unwrapping gifts, just like in Norma’s mind during her last days on Earth.

Starting at 5:15 p.m., the Twinkle Light Parade travels from Washington to Girard.
