Zoo-goers will now have to pay $12.50 to see the Albuquerque zoo's exhibits.

Albuquerque city councilors voted in November to increase entrance fees from $10 to $12.50 for adults and $4.50 to $5.50 for seniors.

The entrance fee for children remain s the same at $4. Children ages three and under can still get in free.

New Mexicans who come with a valid proof of residency can get a discount; Adults would pay $9 and seniors $4.50.

The new prices went into effect Saturday.

The new prices are suppose to help shore up deferred maintenance funding at the 85-year-old zoo.
