The Roswell Salvation Army branch said the emergency food drive it held in conjunction with the Roswell Chamber of Commerce and Roswell Daily Record was a success.

“This has been the most successful food drive that I’ve ever seen,” Captain Ramon Beau Perez of the Salvation Army said.

The Chamber of Commerce saw how much need the food bank was in when it held an “After Hours” event there, and they called for an emergency food drive, asking the community to help.

“We really just wanted to help our community and the Salvation Army in stocking those food shelves and it seems like the community really stepped up to the plate,” Chamber of Commerce manager Candace Lewis said.

In all, the food drive collected 2,303 pounds of food.

“What I would say to everyone in Roswell is, on behalf of those were hungry, thank you,” Perez said.
