The Albuquerque City Council has decided some property owners will have to make changes that could make some of them feel less safe.

A zoning amendment approved at Monday night's council meeting bars barbed and razor wire fences in residential areas.

Councilor Issac Benson proposed the measure. He said he understands people wanting to protect their homes, but the wiring makes neighborhoods look bad;.

the city is giving homeowners six months to take any barbed or razor wire down.
