Hobbs couple claims $2 million Powerball prize

There are new millionaires in New Mexico. A couple from Hobbs won $2 million in the Powerball® when the prize had reached a record setting $587 million last week.
Joe and Lisa Woodruff traveled from Hobbs to the New Mexico Lottery Headquarters in Albuquerque to claim their prize Thursday.
A few hours later they agreed to meet with New Mexico’s media in a press conference.
"We didn't know until today what we had won," Lisa Woodruff told reporters. When asked what her reaction was upon learning she won $2 million, Woodruff said, “I felt sick, but excited."
Lisa bought $50 worth of Powerball® tickets using birthdates and anniversaries to choose her numbers. She said she only played because the Jackpot was a big one.
KOB Eyewitness News 4 reporter Chris Ramirez asked, “What do you guys do, who are you? What's your profession? Talk to us about who you are."
“Really nobody,” Lisa humbly said. “We grew up in Hobbs. I'm 52. My husband is 55. He works at RWI Construction."
Lisa said with her winnings, she would like to see a beach because she had never seen one before.
But she prefaced her statement with she would only see a beach she could drive to because she doesn’t like to fly.
The Wooddruffs also plan on paying off a jeep they own and helping their children.
There is still one large unclaimed prize in New Mexico.
Someone in the state won $1 million from that same Powerball® drawing and still has not come forward.
