Proposal calls for tougher college admission standards

Some state lawmakers want New Mexico's colleges to institute tougher admission standards for education majors.

State colleges currently don't require minimum ACT scores, but member of the Legislative Finance Committee say minimum standards could bring in more qualified people and that could lead to better teachers, and improved student performance.
