Researchers from Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratories went to Nevada Wednesday to test the effectiveness of the nation's nuclear weapons.

Researchers said they used explosives to test the properties of plutonium.

The National Nuclear Security Administration has had 26 similar experiments since 1997.

They have all taken place at the federal reservation northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada.
