APS to spend millions on testing upgrades

Albuquerque Public Schools is looking to spend millions of dollars to adopt a new way of testing students.
The district plans to spend $9 million to upgrade about 17,000 computers. That comes with a price tag of another $15 million annually to maintain the system.
The upgrades are in order meet the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers requirements.
Students will begin testing on the new computers during the 2014-2015 school year.
The tests will replace the current standards-based assessment.
