The first winter storm is bearing down on New Mexico. The weather could bring heavy snow to northern and central New Mexico and bitterly cold weather.

The Department of Transportation has trucks on standby in case if accidents, and the state police will also be patrolling for any incidents from the weather.

A tow truck driver had this to say about drivers in the snow: "Slow down. Be a little more cautious. Take a little more time. Don't be in such a hurry because you don't do anybody any good if you're dead," Keith Yukl said.

The storm is expected to hit northern New Mexico around seven Sunday morning.
