Animal Protection of New Mexico saves lives

You've seen the images and the videos of abused animals suffering after they've been rescued from an almost certain death.
Just last week we introduced you to Mercy, a pit-bull found in Valencia County with gashes and gunshot wounds, who's mouth was wired shut.
Several groups stepped-in; as heroes; to take care of Mercy and nurse her back to health. Animal Protection of New Mexico (APNM) is one of those heroes.
This non-profit is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of Mercy's abuser. They've been working closely with law enforcement since 1979 and are supported through donations, volunteers and grants.
"I get calls from people every day that are just, clearly concerned and really interested in trying to make sure that if this animal is suffering or being neglected, they want to help," said Alan Edmonds, a cruelty case manager with the group.
Edmonds may get up to 20 phone calls each day from people reporting animal abuse and neglect.
He says its heartbreaking hearing the abuse and neglect, but he's happy APNM is making a difference. For more information on APNM, visit their web page here.
