SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Gov. Susana Martinez has appointed an official with the New Mexico Association of Counties to serve on a board overseeing the state lottery.
Salvatore Baragiola of Albuquerque was named to the New Mexico Lottery Authority in October but his appointment was announced this week by the governor's office. Baragiola works as the association's law enforcement loss prevention manager.
His appointment to the seven-member board is subject to confirmation by the state Senate.
The governor's office said Baragiola fills a position on the authority that's been vacant since former Santa Fe County Sheriff Greg Solano resigned in late 2010 after being caught illegally selling county-owned property.
Solano pleaded guilty last year to fraud.
