A Bernalillo County Youth Service Center employee has been arrested for an alleged inappropriate relationship with a former inmate.

Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department detectives arrested youth program officer Ed Edmon and charged him with criminal sexual penetration - a first degree felony, in a case involving a former Youth Service Center inmate.

The 18-year-old victim is pregnant and alleges that her pregnancy is a result of a relationship with Edmon that occurred while she was serving time at the detention center.

The victim was released from the center in July. Edmon has been employed at the center since September 2009.

A cash/surety bond has been set at $50,000. Edmon is in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center.
