A man who had barricaded himself inside a house near Candelaria Rd. and Shirley St. has escaped.

The man had been holed up in the house for over three hours Monday after police were called to the scene following a report that four individuals had forced themselves into a home.

Three suspects are in custody, and the fourth person, who is believed to be armed, barricaded himself inside the house.

The man apparently found the keys to a car parked in the garage and caught officers at the scene off-guard.

According to police, the man almost hit one of the officers with the car, prompting an officer to fire his weapon at the car. Two shots were fired, blowing out the rear window.

Meanwhile, Bernalillo County sheriffs are still at the scene near 2nd and Griegos, where an armed man has barricaded himself. Griegos between 2nd St. and Las Hermanas has been closed off.
