An 8th grade Ruidoso Municipal Schools student has been suspended for allegedly threatening to kill fellow students.
Police said that on Friday, they were notified by the interim superintendent that other students had said the student was making threats the day before, so they questioned those students. They alleged the classmate had written out a list of names of students he said he wanted to kill after returning to class following an outside recess, and that he intended to bring a gun to school the next day and kill the students on the list.
The student admitted to writing the list and making the threats. He was angry he'd been bullied for the last few weeks and for being accused of breaking another student's toy on the playground that day. He said later in the day he ripped up the list and never actually intended to do anything. His father said they had a gun at home, but it was locked in a safe.
The 12th Judicial District attorney's office and FBI were notified, and both agreed nothing rose to level of a delinquent act or prosecutable criminal offense. No charges were filed, and the matter was referred back to schools.
