Neighbors described exactly what they saw at a SWAT situation Monday near Juan Tabo and Candelaria. A man was able to escape a home surrounded by a SWAT team.
Albuquerque Police held a news conference Tuesday. Police said the suspect, 20-year-old Christopher Sosa, sped out of the garage.
Neighbors said there is glass left on the street from the officer's car that they said Sosa hit before speeding down the street, all while he was surrounded by officers.
"It was like a movie. We could not believe this guy had the guts to open the door, back out, slam into a car and speed away," the neighbor said. He did not want to be identified.
The man said he watched the whole scene play out for hours Monday. It got active around 7 p.m. when the suspect fled.
"I figure there were like six gunshots shooting down the street," the neighbor said.
Albuquerque Police have confirmed Officer Randal White did fire his weapon at the car as they said Christopher Sosa drove directly towards him. Police have not confirmed how many shots Officer White fired, but they said witnesses have reported seeing Sosa since last night, and say he is not injured.
Police said three other people seen sneaking into the home will not face charges because the homeowner said they were allowed to be there. But police said the woman who lives there wanted Sosa out.
The neighbor said he has seen Sosa at the home before.
"I've seen these people here before," the neighbor told KOB Eyewitness News 4. "She knows them."
Police said Sosa drove off in a green 2005 Toyota Camry. They said he is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him or know anything about where he is, call 242-COPS or 843-STOP.
