LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - The New Mexico State University Board of Regents has seated a 15-member committee to begin a search for its next president.

Board of Regents Chair Mike Cheney said the committee includes a diverse group of university and community leaders who are all committed to a fair process.

Larry Lujan, an NMSU alumnus and president and CEO of the Manuel Lujan Agencies in Albuquerque, will chair the committee.

It's goal is to find a new president by May of next year.

Former NMSU President Barbara Couture abruptly stepped down last month following a mysterious administrative leave.

The school's executive vice president and provost Wendy Wilkins also stepped down.
