APD cracks down on drunk drivers during the holidays

You better think twice if you get a notion to drink and drive during the holidays in Albuquerque.
Albuquerque Police are cracking down hard with saturation patrols, checkpoints and more officers on duty, looking for drunks behind the wheel.
"There are no breaks," Police Chief Ray Schultz said at a news conference Friday. "You will be arrested, your vehicle will be towed, and if you are a repeat DWI offender you may lose your vehicle permanently, as part of the seizure program."
Kristen Koger of Mothers Against Drunk Driving praised the city's efforts.
"As individuals, part of this community, we need to make wise decisions and good choices and designate a driver," she said. "Do the responsible thing. Keep our community safe."
Police held their news coference at 4th and Menaul NW, scene of one of the worst drunk driving crashes in recent years. On New Year Day in 2008, at about 1:30 a.m. a drunk driver ran the red light and slammed into a truck - killing Josephine Laweka and her boyfriend Marvin Garcia.
Micah Henry is serving an eight-year prison term for the fatal wreck. He was an Air Force police officer at the time of the crash.
