The luminaria tour in Albuquerque had lots of color for Christmas Eve. Many bags went up in flames because of wind gusts.

"It's kinda fun to watch the bags burn up, but it is a little frustrating, too. You're walking around, lighting candles, and they're blowing out behind you," Gregory Hicks said.

But with the bags burning and candles blowing out, people came through and re-lit the luminarias.

Although the wind made for a cold night, KOB Eyewitness News 4 found a fan of the tour.

"The wind, actually, everything is kind of twinkly because of the wind. It's just a beautiful, special night. I had never actually seen anything like this before," Padmaja Itikala said.

Some avoided the cold by doing the ABQ Ride bus tours of the luminarias through the Country Club, Old Town and Los Altos.

The rides finished a little before nine. That is when Gregory Hicks said his favorite part starts.

"Between eleven and twelve o'clock at night, the wind usually stops and buses have stopped doing their rounds. All you have are people walking around the neighborhood. It's very quiet. It's very silent. It's a silent night," he said.
