Christmas traditions live on

Traditions are an important part of the holidays that help make the season so special.
For some, it is shopping while for others, it is community service.
The magic of Christmas was felt across town Christmas Eve, as family traditions kicked off with luminaria tours.
But Tuesday morning, those who escaped the last-minute shopping frenzy still found themselves in a bind for a present.
"Thank God Walgreens was open because it's the last-minute pick up things you gotta get," John Pacheco, who was buying toys for his son, said.
Starbucks was also open and people took full advantage of their daily routine.
"I'm a little conflicted with it," Todd Leslie, a customer, said. "I feel bad for people who have to work but I have to be honest, it sure is nice to get my little latte here."
Around town, streets were deserted and empty since most people spent the day inside surrounded by loved ones.
"Today we're gonna go over to my sister's house and celebrate Christmas," Stephen Burke said. "She's making a prime rib, I'm making my famous mashed potatoes."
"It's a fun day spent with family," Carolyn Reinicke said. "We've been fasting since November 15 so we're looking forward to the cookies and candy and the meat."
Others were grateful to be blessed with a Christmas meal at all.
"It's a blessing for us, it really is," Virgil Foley, who attended the Noon Day Ministries annual Christmas party, said.
The event was made possible with the help of those who spent their holiday volunteering.
"This is my probably like 10th or 12th year here," Travis Dekker said.
Noon Day Ministries Executive Director Danny Whatley has shown the community Christmas Day is all about giving to those less fortunate for the past 20 years.
"It's good to spend Christmas with those that I consider family," Whatley said.
