American Girl's newest Girl of the Year doll is from New Mexico.
The popular Wisconsin-based doll, book and accessories company is expected to announce Tuesday that its new doll, named Saige Copeland, is a 4th-grader from Albuquerque who loves painting, horses and hot air balloons.
Launched along with her will be two books, and accessories that include a horse and a hot-air balloon.
A Saige doll and one book will cost $110.
The Girl of the Year dolls, initiated in 2001, have become a popular feature for American Girl and have helped to boost the company's revenues.
As part of introducing the Saige character, American Girl will hold an arts contest for girls, a school grant contest for elementary art teachers, and a series of art activities developed with Americans for the Arts, a national nonprofit organization.
American Girl previously introduced a historical doll, Josephina Montoya, who was described as being from a ranch in New Mexico.
