An arrest has been made in the case of an 18-year-old La Cueva High School student who overdosed on heroin.

Joseph Dyson has been arrested.

He's accused of selling Cameron Weiss the heroin that he overdosed on.

Weiss's mother Jennifer found him unconscious in his room last August.

After Cameron's death she began a huge effort to raise awareness about the dangers of heroin, and has also lobbied to get prescription drug laws changed. She says it was a prescription painkiller he had for a wrestling injury that led to his drug addiction.

According to the criminal complaint, Dyson and Weiss were in jail at the same time just weeks before Weiss's death.

The suspect in the case is the adopted son of KOB 4 reporter Stuart Dyson.

Joseph Dyson has not lived with Dyson's family for eight years.

Be sure to tune in to KOB 4 at 10 p.m. - Our reporter will be speaking with Jennifer Weiss about her son and Dyson's arrest.
