Former Congressional candidate Gary Smith spent Wednesday night in jail for aggravated stalking charges against a former rival.
He will appear in court Thursday and KOB will be there.
Former Congressional candidate Janice Arnold-Jones gave APD surveillance video of a man she said was Gary Smith driving by her home on Tuesday.
KOB Eyewitness News 4's cameras captured Smith being handcuffed and arrested Wednesday.
Arnold-Jones had a court order for Smith to stay away from her property after she said Smith had been caught on surveillance video slashing her tires back in April.
Arnold-Jones sued Smith in April for not having enough petition signatures to get on the Republican Primary Election ballot.
Arnold-Jones said Smith wanted to get back at her by slashing her tires. Police arrested Smith on Friday for those allegations and bonded out for $5,000.
But the arrest Wednesday will call for a $50,000 bond. Smith's former campaign manager Rhead Story said he thinks Smith has slashed his tires in the past, too. And he said his former partner has a problem.
"Gary needs to get help. At this point, it concerning to me. I don't want him to do anything irrational. His behavior is very erratic at this point. He's not the same person that he was," Story said.
Stay tuned to KOB Eyewitness News 4 for more on Smith's court appearance Thursday.
