The economy looks pretty good from a boat and RV standpoint.

Thousands of people will be at the Albuquerque Convention Center for the third annual New Mexico Boat and Travel Show the first weekend in January.

The prices of the boats and RVs range from under $10,000 to over $300,000, but show manager Jim Sibert said baby boomers are pulling money from savings and retirement and going out to travel the country.

He said banks are giving out more loans to people who want to buy large items like boats and RVs. He also said families under the Baby Boomer generation are adjusting their vacation styles. More families are taking longer trips with controlled costs, rather than flying to locations and paying huge costs in flights and expensive lodging.

Sibert said out of all the states that host boat and travel shows, New Mexicans have the highest percentage of purchasing in the country.

The show starts at noon on Friday and runs until 5 p.m. Sunday. Around 6,500 people are expected to be at the show to buy and sell.
