ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A 21-year-old Albuquerque woman has been arrested in the death last month of her infant daughter who was determined to have suffered multiple blows to the head over a period of time.

Police Officer Tasia Martinez says detectives arrested June Ortega after an autopsy determined that the daughter who was just under a year old had died from brain bleeding caused by head trauma.

Martinez says the autopsy also determined that the infant had at least four skull fractures - some healed and some in the process of healing.

The daughter had been found unresponsive on Dec. 21 when emergency personnel responded to a report that the child wasn't breathing.

The District Attorney's Office says it is unaware of an attorney representing Ortega.
