Copper thief shocked while stealing wire

A suspected thief is recovering from burns Friday.

Police tell KOB Eyewitness News 4 the thief was badly shocked and burned while stealing copper.

KOB 4 was there as police put 34-year-old Randall Becker was put in the back of a cruiser.

Police said he was shocked while trying to steal wire from an electrical box overnight.

It happened in a building at Central and 10th around midnight Thursday.

Police said after Becker was injured, he camped out in the building overnight, and even lit a small fire in the building to stay warm.

He was arrested around 8 a.m. Friday morning when police saw him walking out of the building with the wire.

Becker faces several felony charges.
