Police investigate 'unrecognizable' body found in house fire

Albuquerque police are investigating a body found in the aftermath of a house fire early Saturday.

The fire broke out at a home in the 11000 block of Lexington Avenue NE shortly after 6 a.m.

The body was discovered in a back room of the house near Candelaria and Juan Tabo, by crews with the Albuquerque Fire Department. 

The person has not been identified at this time and it’s unclear what started the fire.

Albuquerque police have homicide detectives on scene for the investigation.
