Police ID pedestrian killed Tuesday on I-40 near Tijeras

The Bernalillo Sheriff has identified the pedestrian struck and killed Tuesday night on I-40 near Tijeras as Lawrence Zaragoza, 24, of Albuquerque.

Police said witnesses told them he was walking in the roadway when he was hit.

The driver of the vehicle that struck Zaragoza was not injured during the crash and no charges are pending for the driver.

Investigation is still ongoing to determine why Zaragoza was in the road.

The accident had caused the closure of eastbound lanes of I-40 from Tijeras to Sedillo Hill late Tuesday.
