SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - DNA evidence from a sunglasses lens left behind at a homicide scene has enabled Santa Fe police to close the case.

According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, that's because police concluded that the evidence pointed to the guilt of a man who himself later became a homicide victim.

Police say the lens found at the home of artist Ethaan Boyer after he was killed last February during a break-in had DNA that linked David Martinez to the scene.

Ballistics tests indicate that the same handgun used to kill Martinez also was used to kill Boyer. The gun was found on the body of Martinez where it was dumped near the Santa Fe River.

His brother, Felix Martinez, awaits trial on charges of first-degree murder and tampering with evidence.
