Hundreds wait in line for a chance at a new job

Excitement is building for the opening of the new Target in Uptown as hundreds of people stood in line Thursday hoping to land a job there.
The store is looking to fill 200 positions.
Job seeker Michael Baca said he’s looking for a way out of poverty for his family. He said it has been a hard year with no job and little money.
“It's a lot of sadness, a lot of discouragement,” Baca said. Can't find a job nowhere, you apply everywhere and nowhere is hiring and like now hopefully I get a job, pray to god.
A few steps down the line, Anna Jaramillo hopes for a new start.
“It's been really difficult knowing that at my age, I'm 56, I would really like to seek employment and get back into the job force,” Jaramillo said.
Mikayla Trujillo says seeing so many others in line, is intimidating.
“You can tell by the line, you can tell some of these people have a lot more experience than the younger people that are trying to get these kind of jobs because there is nothing else for them,” Trujillo said.
Target manager Brian Fairhurst said he grew up in Albuquerque. He said it hurts him to see his hometown struggling.
“You know that's a little bit disheartening,” he said. “We'd love to employ everybody but obviously that's not an option for us.”
And so, with many others they wait - hoping it might just be their lucky day.
